Heartland
Humane Bat Removal
serving the Omaha + Council Bluffs Metro
since 2004
Are bats inside? Want them out? We can help!
Our humane exclusion process begins with an exterior inspection to identify access points.
Once we know how the bats are entering, we provide you with an estimate for exclusion.
Local inspections are $50 unless you approve the exclusion work, then we waive inspection cost.
Protected Wildlife Species
We exclude March - May + August - October
Bat Exclusion is ON HOLD during Nesting + Hibernation
Nesting: June - July
Bats raise their pups June - July, so we DO NOT begin Phase I of the exclusion process during these months to ensure the bat babies aren’t separated from their mothers. Only 1-2 pups are born each season.
During nesting, we cautiously inspect to provide estimates for exclusion and carefully complete Phase II of in process exclusions began before June.
Once the bat babies can fly on their own, typically the last week or two of July, we continue exclusions until hibernation begins in the Fall.
Hibernation: October - March
Once night temperatures drop below 55° F bats begin their hibernation roost during the Fall and Winter months.
We can begin, but do not complete exclusions at this time. Because they are protected by federal regulation, bats’ hibernation roost is too. Relocation from their hibernation roost is strictly prohibited.
We continue bat exclusions in the Spring once hibernation is over.
Bat Houses
Bat Conservation International offers DIY bat house recipes, bat house set up with location tips and examples, and sells bat gear — all proceeds benefit bat conservation!
If you want to install a bat house in our area, Travis recommends cementing a 12+ foot pole in a wide open area, season the bat house with their guano to attract them + attach on top of the pole.

Investment
Exclusion
Small Scope Average $400-800
Medium Scope Average $800-1200
Large Scope Average $1200-2000
Phase I: One way exit installation allows bats to leave the property and prevents reentry. Includes sealing of any minor + potential access points.
Phase II: Once bats have evacuated, removal of exits + complete seal up.
No Phase I during nesting June - July
No Phase II in hibernation Oct - March
Installations weather permitting
Our initial local residential inspection is $50 unless you approve the exclusion work, then we waive the inspection cost.
* Commercial and long distance inspections are $75-150, also waived upon approval.
Exterior Relocation
$100 exterior bat relocation
regardless if the bats return
We collect the bat(s) from your property and set them free in the wild.
There is no guarantee the bats won’t return once they’re released. They can be particular about their territory and where they roost.
A potential long term deterrent is bright light aimed directly where they are roosting. Other methods fade over time and do not effect some bat species.
Interior Collection
$125 daytime collection
$200 after hours
Bats are difficult to find while they hide + sleep during the day. The chances of discovering a bat decrease exponentially after the first 30 minutes from a sighting.
If it’s been longer than an hour, wait to see if the bat reappears, as they often find their way out however they entered.
Bat collection service is dependent upon our current schedule.
